About me…

Yoga teacher Marlijn holding a mug of tea, smiling and looking at the camera

Hi, I’m Marlijn…

Movement has always been part of who I am. I love the feeling of being in my body, and I feel deeply passionate about helping others discover ways of moving that feel supportive, nourishing and true to them. For me, yoga offers exactly that; a way to move with the breath, soothe the nervous system, and create space for the mind, body and soul to settle.

Yoga first entered my life when I was very young. My mum used to teach Hatha yoga classes in a studio in our home, and every now and then I would wander in and join the class. Later, when I went to university to study dance teaching, yoga drifted out of my life as dance took centre stage.

I found my way back to it more recently when my body was asking for something different. Struggling with perimenopausal joint pain, nothing seemed to quite help. Returning to yoga felt like coming home. Slowly, I began to notice the shifts; not just physically, but in my overall sense of wellbeing. My body felt stronger and more supported, and I felt more grounded, resilient and connected.

Experiencing the healing power of yoga in this way inspired me to deepen my practice and train as a teacher. I completed a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with the intention of sharing this beautiful practice with others and creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through movement and breath.

My teaching is shaped by my background in dance and a deep curiosity about yoga philosophy, but at its heart is a simple belief: yoga is for every body. I try to bring a spirit of inclusion, compassion and curiosity into every class, encouraging students to listen to their bodies and move in ways that truly feel good for them.

Marlijn is a fantastic teacher - she thoughtfully plans her classes with everyone in the room in mind, offering options for different levels and providing hands-on assists for those who are happy to receive them. After each class, my mind feels calm and my body feels energised, ready for the day and the week ahead”
